Hi! I'm Christine! I'm a teacher-wife-mother from Michigan now living in Florida who spends my time surrounded by tweens. I have a 14-year-old son and a 12-year-old daughter who mean the world to me. I also teach ELA to tweens. I now teach middle school, but throughout my 15+ year teaching career, I've taught all grades K-8 except for 1st and 7th.
Finding balance be"tween" my roles as a teacher and a mom has become my life's mission. Even when my kids were babies, balance was something I searched for. Finally, after working part-time in an elementary job-share, then taking a few years off to live in Europe (more on that experience to come!), and giving full-time another chance for a few years, I've found my sweet spot of balance- teaching middle school ELA part-time!
As a wife to a man who works a lot of hours, I realized a few years ago that working full-time does not work for my family. I was blessed 2 years ago to switch from a full-time elementary position to a part-time middle school position. I have never been happier! I get to do what I love a few hours a day, still have time to volunteer at my kids' schools, and manage our life in general.
With this blog, I hope to share ideas for in the classroom and tales of teaching and parenting. As a passionate reader who wants to spark a love of reading in people of all ages, I will also be having my tweens help me create book reviews for other tweens and teachers!
